Makers of “Kpamaku”

Only a total finish provides
The awesome sight of
Those indellible tattoos
Crafted real on our “kpamakus.”
We met it from time to time
Only at the finish line.

Those plates of yore,
Surviving the ages like sages
Unbreakable…iron-like slates
Pounding grounds…
Childish drums…
A dept, we never knew.

In scorn, we laughed
But the lure of the West,
South and North was not for them
Who from the East are here firm.
Die-hard Grafters – “Chingo Parks”
Opening and populating our spaces,
Creeks, villages and towns,
Building parks, Real shops…
“Chingo Shops.”

Welcome to reality!
The days of “Mongo Parks”
Are gone…”Kpamakus” were real
Their makers are making new reals
Uprooting old fears, and feelings.
Made in China is tearing away here!
Made in Nigeria resides where?
